It's been my experience that otaku are cheap, but otaku aren't cheap because they want to be. Otaku are cheap because they're broke, this all comes from first hand experience. I, and otaku as well, have to be selective in our spending. It has also been my experience that all otaku have one-time or another dream or dreamed about making their own anime.
The tools to make your own anime are out there, and they're FREE! My reaction in this order:

and cool. Apparently there are a group of anime fans that are attempting to create their very own anime using only free, open source software, they call it the Morevna Project. The

All the software listed above rivals those proprietary software programs that people, especially otaku, can't afford. The one thing that otaku do not lack is talent.
